This policy is designed to cover website visitors, purchasers of the at-home insemination kit, and telehealth patients served through StepOne Fertility, P.C.
1. Who We Are
StepOne Fertility, Inc. (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Delaware C-corp headquartered at 1111B S Governors Ave STE 29650, Dover, DE 19904. We operate https://www.beafertility.com (the “Site”) and provide non-clinical administrative and technology services that support StepOne Fertility, P.C. (“PC”), an independent physician-owned professional corporation that delivers clinical telehealth services solely in New York.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information about you when you interact with the Site, purchase our product, or receive Services.
Not a medical group. The PC—not StepOne Fertility, Inc.—is responsible for providing clinical care and for issuing its own Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) under HIPAA. This Policy does not govern PHI handled by the PC; refer to the NPP presented in the secure patient portal.
2. Children Under 18
The Site and Services are intended for adults 21 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have collected data from a child, email privacy@beafertility.com and we will delete it.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide to us
- Account & profile — name, email, password, phone, mailing address.
- Purchase & payment — shipping address, FSA/HSA card details (processed by Shopify Payments / Stripe; we do not store full card numbers).
- Telehealth intake — basic medical history, fertility goals, questionnaire responses (stored on HIPAA-compliant systems as a Business Associate of the PC).
- Support & correspondence — messages, email contents, phone recordings.
- Research or assessments — survey responses, demographic info (with consent).
3.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring pages, clicks, time-on-page, error logs.
- Cookies & similar tech — see Section 7 (Tracking Technologies).
- Approximate geolocation derived from IP for fraud-prevention and NY-only service gating.
3.3 Information from others
- PC & Providers — appointment status, visit metadata (not diagnostic notes).
- Payment processors — payment confirmation, disbursement data.
- Marketing partners & social platforms — limited identifiers (hashed email, IP) for ad targeting, where permitted.
4. How We Use Information
- Create, maintain, and secure your account.
- Process and ship orders; handle returns and recalls.
- Schedule telehealth appointments and coordinate with the PC.
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support.
- Send transactional notices (order confirmations, appointment reminders, subscription renewals).
- Send marketing emails or SMS with your consent (opt-out any time).
- Conduct research and analytics to improve the Site and product.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud or misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may disclose limited categories as follows:
Service providers (hosting, fulfillment, customer-support, payment, analytics):
Operate the Site and Services under contractual confidentiality & security obligations.
StepOne Fertility, P.C.:
Coordinate scheduling, billing, and intake data as a HIPAA Business Associate.
Advertising platforms (Google, Meta, etc.):
Show interest-based ads using hashed identifiers & cookie data — never PHI.
Regulators or law enforcement:
Respond to legal process or protect rights, safety, or property.
Business transferees:
In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice to you).
6. Your Choices
- Email marketing: Click “unsubscribe” or change preferences in your account.
- SMS marketing: Reply STOP to any SMS or email support@beafertility.com.
- Cookies/ads: Adjust browser settings or use the cookie banner to opt-out of non-essential cookies. You may also submit a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
- State rights: Residents of CA, CO, CT, VA, and other states have rights to access, delete, or correct certain data and to opt-out of “selling”/“sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. Submit requests to privacy@beafertility.com or call (978) 731-9965.
7. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use first- and third-party cookies, pixels, and local storage to:
- Keep you logged in.
- Remember cart contents.
- Measure Site performance.
- Serve interest-based ads.
- You can refuse or delete cookies via browser controls; the Site may not work optimally thereafter.
8. Security Practices
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards—encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, employee training—to protect information. No system is 100 % secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Accounts and associated data are deleted or anonymized 2 years after inactivity unless a longer period is required by law or pursuant to subscription records.
10. Do Not Track
Our Site currently does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. We honor Global Privacy Control signals for cookie-based advertising opt-outs as required by CPRA/CPA.
11. International Users
The Site is intended for U.S. residents. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you consent to transferring your information to the United States, which may have different data-protection laws.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Effective date.” Continued use after the update constitutes acceptance.
