Caitlin's Story

Heterosexual couple Female, 34 Male, 37 TTC 18 months

Ok, let’s start with the basics.

  • Type of couple: Heterosexual couple
  • Carrier: Caitlin, 34, PCOS
  • Partner: Male, 37, No known fertility conditions
  • TTC: 18 months

First of all, where are you today?

  • I’m 14 weeks pregnant with the Béa Treatment.
  • I’m due later this year

"I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Turns out, the pill had been masking symptoms so I didn’t know. My test results all came back normal, so we knew the main challenge was the irregular cycles from PCOS."

Tell us about your fertility and how long you've been TTC...

My partner and I started trying for a baby after I had been on the birth control pill for 17 years. I initially took the pill for acne, so coming off it felt like a big adjustment. After about a year of trying with no success, we decided to get some tests done. That’s when I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Turns out, the pill had been masking symptoms so I didn’t know. My test results all came back normal, so we knew the main challenge was the irregular cycles from PCOS.

At first, we tracked ovulation using the Flo app and used Clear Blue ovulation tests for about 6 months, but because PCOS can cause hormonal surges without actual ovulation, the test results were often a bit misleading. The waitlist for an NHS appointment was 5 months, and after trying for 16 months we were really frustrated, so we opted for private treatment.

Was there a reason why you hadn’t tried IVF before?

Since I had good ovarian health and my partner’s sperm analysis was good, our doctors recommended ovulation induction over IVF or IUI. They said IVF would be a step too far given how many eggs I had (owing to the PCOS).

Did you try any other methods?

We started with an Ovulation Induction (OI) treatment. Our first cycle with OI we weren’t successful, so we researched what our options could be before trying a second OI cycle. We found Béa, and used that the next OI cycle. We conceived that cycle!

"When we found Béa, it felt like such a relief to have a solution that allowed us to focus on conception without the added stress of perfect timing and intercourse working"

What made you want to try Béa?

During my ovulation induction cycle, we struggled a little with the pressure of timed intercourse. We went through so much, and spent so much money on the OI cycle that it put a lot of pressure on the intercourse part of the equation. Having to have sex and ejaculate within such a specific window was incredibly stressful, and it started to impact our experience. After our first cycle didn’t work, we decided to explore other options to relieve some of that pressure. That’s when we found Béa, and it felt like such a relief to have a solution that allowed us to focus on conception without the added stress of perfect timing and intercourse working.

How did you find out about Béa?

Someone we know mentioned Béa to us years ago, but we didn’t think much of it. Later on, when we were struggling with our OI cycles, my partner was researching options and brought up Béa. We also tried Ferti-lily, but honestly it was a little messy, Béa was a much higher quality product.

"After months of uncertainty, it was reassuring to have a solution that felt straightforward and effective."

How did you feel about using the Béa Treatment?

I found Béa easy to use, with clear instructions that made the process feel straightforward. The product quality stood out, and I appreciated how the marketing didn’t feel overly clinical or intimidating. Initially, I thought it was expensive, and honestly that did put me off a bit, but after successfully getting pregnant with Béa, I felt it was worth it.

How do you feel about Béa now that you’re pregnant?

I'm really grateful for Béa and the role it played in our journey. After months of uncertainty, it was reassuring to have a solution that felt straightforward and effective. The Béa Applicator took some of the stress out of the process, and I truly appreciated the Béa Applicator being invented.

"After experiencing stress and pressure during our first cycle of treatment, Béa helped make the process feel easier and more in control"

How did your partner feel about Béa?

My partner was also very positive about Béa. After experiencing stress and pressure during our first cycle of treatment, Béa helped make the process feel easier and more in control. He especially appreciated the simplicity and clarity of the instructions.

Would you recommend Béa to others that are TTC?

Absolutely. I would recommend Béa 100% to anyone trying to conceive, especially anyone facing performance anxiety during timed intercourse.

Is there anything we could have done to help support you better?

I had a great experience with Béa overall. I initially found the price high, but once I used the product and saw the results, I understood the value.

If you met someone going through a similar TTC journey as yourself, what top tips would you give them?

My biggest piece of advice is to get tested early. I wish I had done fertility tests sooner instead of waiting a full year.
