How does the treatment work?
How does the treatment work?
Béa combines a clinical-grade fertility treatment called intracervical insemination (ICI) alongside embryologist-led support, to guide you through every phase.
Our clinical-grade Béa Applicator reaches right up to the cervix, much further than intravaginal insemination (IVI), like syringes can. With a full twist of the handle on the Béa Applicator (the insertion device), the cervical cap (which is folded neatly within the Béa Applicator, and contains the semen you pour into it), is deployed onto the cervix. The cap stays in place in the body for 1 hour, protecting sperm and holding them right where they need to be on the cervix, to maximise your chances of pregnancy.

Not all at-home insemination treatments are equal
Recognised by the NHS, the Béa Treatment is designed to perform intracervical insemination (ICI) from the comfort of your home.
ICI improves the chance of conceiving by encouraging more sperm to travel towards the egg for fertilisation. Our patent-pending Béa Applicator has been designed to bypass the bacteria in the vaginal canal that can be harmful to sperm to concentrate semen at the opening of the cervix using a cervical cap. This delivers up to 3.23x more sperm to the cervix than sexual intercourse, vaginal straw or syringe insemination (IVI).

When should I perform the second insemination?
When should I perform the second insemination?
Generally, home insemination is performed once during a menstrual cycle. There are a number of factors that influence this: cost of treatment, access to sperm and scheduling reasons. In some cases, and if you’re able, it can be beneficial to perform the insemination 2 days in a row around ovulation – what we call a double insemination.
A double insemination increases the amount of available sperm for fertilisation by increasing the frequency of insemination. For best results, the first insemination should be performed once you have a positive ovulation test result. We suggest using the second Béa Applicator 18–36 hours later, or at a convenient time the next day.
If you aren’t able to perform the second insemination on the next day, you should save the second Béa Applicator for the following cycle, as you might miss the window where an egg can be fertilised.
Every fertility journey is different, we can help you decide what is best for yours.
Your safety and experience using the Béa Treatment is our number one priority. There are conditions for which it is medically unsafe to perform ICI or use the Béa Applicator. Read the contraindications here, and our T&C's for purchase here and if you are unsure, email the Béa Care Team.
